Changing lives through the power of God's Word

Meet the Bruynzeels

How did you guys meet?

Met at a wedding: I knew the bride, she knew the groom—her boyfriend was roommates with him…began dating about 5 months later…engaged 2 months after that!

What was your reputation as a young adult?

20s—before marriage/meeting Renee: bit crazy…love God & people, love serving—but a bit on the wild-side!

After marriage—Renee definitely “up’d” my respectability & helped with a ton of common sense…so fun to be teammates in life and ministry!

Chris, what advise would you give girls about the opposite sex in their 20s/30s?

The guy you’re looking for is the one who not only goes to church on Sundays but is also in a small group—on his own.  AND…this is KEY: the one who is helping set-up or clean-up or (name a specific service opportunity where there is no public acclaim) when no one else is watching…the guy who does it week-in & week-out…you want a man who loves God, loves His Word, loves people, and is a humble-serve-God-all-the-time-&-no-matter-the-praise-kind-of-servant

Chris, what makes Renee a Godly role model for ladies in their 20s/30s?

She loves God with all that she is—otherwise, I wouldn’t have married her…I needed/need a woman who will choose to love me when I’m unlovable—because she loves God & wants to remain faithful to the covenant she made with Him on our wedding day…that’s what makes a marriage last!

She serves & serves & serves so as to please God and demo her love for her family (me, kids).

She has the softest heart & most incredible smile b/c of her deep-seated joy in the Lord.

She is a tough yet caring mom!  Our kids don’t run the home—they were given to us by God to “train up in the way they should go…”—all the time, everywhere—Renee’s a mom who “teaches-on-the-go”!

She has an incredible set of convictions—not just “beliefs” she talks about, but a set of beliefs she acts on daily: real convictions.

She is a strong woman, yet submits to my leadership—even when I’m being dumb or a jerk…because she loves God more than me!

The list goes on & on & on…

What is your couple verse?

Phil 3:12-14 - Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own.  Brothers & sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own.  But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
